Formerly a traditional studio artist about five years ago I moved my
entire process online using existing social media as an online "studio"
environment. My early university studies focused on multimedia
presentation of scientific concepts (for computers) in an exciting time
in which graphics were not yet common on computers and sites like Yahoo
were appearing on the internet. My earliest involvement with "The Well"
community in the late eighties involved me in the conceptual search for
a tool that would help to bring universal literacy to the people of the
world especially the children of the world. Originally we called
the concept te "dynabook" and it was very much like the laptop of
today. After involving myself in the large scale collaboration to bring
the OLPC laptop to production and use I began to become very interested
in the cellphone as a ubiquitous computing device that could
bring literacy to very young children. Currently I am preparing for
re-entry at HSU and grad school. I have several projects
involving the group ensemble collaboration assembling of a shared
digital history of my community of origin which created the original
renaissance Pleasure Faires. My primary project of late as an open
source artist is working out a paper on the linking of mobile education
services and info hubs with water systems and extending existing
medical and educational services.
